A TELEVISION star has thrown her weight behind a charity campaign in her home town of Barnsley.
Former Coronation Street actress Katherine Kelly has signed a butterfly to be displayed in the DEBRA shop in Market Street as part of its latest campaign.
The store raises money for people affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa, a rare genetic skin blistering condition which causes the skin to blister and shear at the slightest touch.
The Butterfly Wishes campaign invites shoppers to pay £1 to write a message on a paper version of the winged creature, which will then be displayed in the shop.
Katherine, whose father John was owner of Barnsley’s Lamproom Theatre, and who recently acted in ITV’s Mr Selfridge, got the ball rolling by wishing ‘health and happiness to all’.
