LET us get this straight – retired plumber Stanley Wraith is obsessed with bananas.
But his fascination is not for any old banana.
For Stanley, it seems, they have to be straight.
In December 1998 he first walked into The Star offices in York Street, Sheffield, and declared: “I’ve found the straightest banana ever.”
He was so insistent we ran a story. Now, 13 years on, Stanley, aged 77, of, Meersbrook, thinks he’s found one even straighter.
“This one was from a bunch at Lidl,” he said.
Stanley has plans with permanence for the bendless banana.
“I might have it stuffed,” he said. “By a taxidermist.”
