Staff to make sure every penny counts

EVERY penny counts as Sheffield Council staff sign up to support St Luke’s Hospice.

Pennies from Heaven is the UK’s fastest growing coin collection scheme which has raised more than £1.4 million for charities since 1999.

Now Sheffield Council employees are signing up for the project and over the next two years will raise cash for Sheffield’s only hospice St Luke’s.

Net salaries are rounded down to the nearest pound on a monthly basis, with the spare pennies going to the charity.

“We are delighted Sheffield Council employees are supporting us in this way,” said St Luke’s Corporate and Trusts Fundraising Manager Hannah Jordan.

“We need to raise more than £4 million annually to maintain our current excellent levels of service so every penny really counts.”

A council spokesman added: “We’re hoping to get as many staff signed up to the scheme as possible, to make sure we can make a real difference for St. Luke’s.”
