Hard-working employees are celebrating after being honoured – for clocking up more than 2,000 years of service between them.

Kier Sheffield, based on Manor Lane, which runs Sheffield Council’s building maintenance service, presented plaques and certificates to 43 staff who have each served at least 38 years.

Among those honoured was assistant maintenance manager, Graham Causer, who has spent 41 years working for the department.

He said: “I don’t know where the years have gone. Starting as an apprentice plumber all those years ago and then Kier training me to become an assistant manager has given me a great sense of achievement.”

Phil Oades, Kier operations director, said: “Through their commitment, Kier Sheffield is able to continuously improve the service it offers.”
