A STRESSED bride-to-be has waited more than a month for a refund after cancelling her wedding reception at a Sheffield venue where a man was stabbed to death.

Kate Renshaw, aged 34, is still waiting for £300 to be returned after cancelling her bash at the Stars suite on Queens Road following the incident on New Year’s Eve.

She says she was told the refund would take seven working days, but has since been told it will have to wait until the outcome of an insurance claim by the business.

Joshua Green, aged 27, was fatally stabbed at an R’nB’ party. Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Sheffield Council revoked the venue’s licence and it closed for six weeks until an appeal. It is operating as normal pending a hearing due in four months.

Kate said the uncertain future for the business led her to cancel her September booking.

She added: “We want our money back so we can find alternative arrangements and keep our happy day worry-free.”

NIGEL Thompson, of PHL Leisure Services, said they had had seven cancellations following the incident.

All monies would be repaid once the outcome of the appeal was known.

He added: “We have £70,000 claim in for business interruption. But the insurance company can’t quantify our losses until the appeal is processed.”
