St Luke’s Hospice added some extra festive sparkle to the Christmas season with its 17th annual Festival of Light switch-on.
The celebration, which is one of the biggest and best-loved events on the Sheffield charity’s calendar, saw the hospice building and trees in the grounds decorated with thousands of twinkling white lights.
The big switch-on took place with Look North presenter and charity patron Harry Gration illuminating the lights, which are all dedicated to families’ loved ones. The event also featured seasonal music from Holymoorside Brass Band, the City of Sheffield Teachers’ Choir and Bolsterstone Male Voice Choir.
St Luke’s director of patient care Judith Park said: “For many of our friends and supporters in Sheffield this event has come to mark the start of their Christmas season.
“All the money we receive from the dedication of lights goes directly to fund vital patient care here at St Luke’s.”
