These pictures show students competing in action-packed events for High Storrs School in Sheffield and St Pius X Catholic High School in Wath upon Dearne.

Record breakers included pupil James Coates from High Storrs, who triumphed in the 800m and was an Olympic torchbearer when the relay came to Sheffield.

At St Pius, Emily Howe, aged 15, scaled great heights in the high jump to break a record from 2006. Helen Yates, head of PE, said: “It was an absolutely brilliant day.”
