IRON-willed police officers raised cash for Help for Heroes by swimming, running and cycling 140 miles in a triathlon.

Now officers in Bakewell are hoping people will stump up more cash for the charity when they take part a cricket tournament.

They will be facing each other in the six-a-side competition at Bakewell recreation ground on Thursday, August 23.

So far, the Bakewell bobbies have raised over £1,500 at sporting events, including a charity football match between Derbyshire Police and local youngsters.

The money will go to Help the Heroes, which supports army, navy and air force personnel injured in service.

PC Kevin Lowe, said: “I would very much like to thank all those people who have either taken part or supported these charity events.

“We have managed to raise a tremendous amount but it would be great if that total could be boosted even further for such a worthy cause.”

A collection will be carried out at the charity cricket match which starts at 3pm.
