CHESTERFIELD FC has made former chairman Barrie Hubbard its new life president.
The appointment has been made after the Duke of Devonshire has become the Spireites’ first ever club patron. The change is in recognition of Mr Hubbard’s achievements while a director and chairman for most of the last 29 years.
Mr Hubbard’s period at the helm has seen three promotions, four relegations, two Wembley Play-Off Finals, the FA Cup Semi-Final in 1997, and winning the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final last season.
On Saturday, the club hosted the biggest concert in Chesterfield’s history, when 15,000 people watched Elton John at the B2Net Stadium.
