Rotherham MP Sarah Champion has appointed a specialist in child sexual exploitation to try to support the 1,400 estimated victims in Rotherham.
Jayne Senior, former manager and founder of the Risky Business youth project, set up in 1999 to work with vulnerable young people, has been appointed by the Labour MP, who has secured funding for the post.
The victims were identified in an independent report into child sexual exploitation in Rotherham over a 16 year period.
Labour MP Ms Champion said: “I have been overwhelmed with the number of victims contacting me in the last six weeks. I feel a moral duty to ensure they receive support, care and justice. They have been let down in the past and I need to know this won’t happen again.”
