Police have charged a man over a crash which left a pedestrian fighting for life.
The 20-year-old, from Townend, Barnsley, is accused of aggravated vehicle taking, driving without insurance, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and perverting the course of justice following the crash on Racecommon Road, Barnsley, last December.
He was arrested after a 50-year-old Barnsley man, now aged 51, was struck by a vehicle which failed to stop on December 12.
The pedestrian broke nearly every bone in his body and spent four months in hospital.
He has since been discharged but is still receiving treatment on his legs and pelvis.
A 48-year-old man and 25-year-old woman, from Townend, have been charged with perverting the course of justice.
All three are due to appear at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on August 2.
