Changes to cardboard collections for Rotherham households are to be fully launched from Monday.
The material will no longer be collected from residents’ green bins and people are people will be asked to put cardboard in blue recycling bags.
Large pieces which do not fit will still be collected if folded and left secured under blue recycling boxes.
Rotherham Council has sent out more than 100,000 leaflets to households outlining the new arrangements.
Householders are encouraged to request an additional blue bag if required.
The council is also purchasing larger blue bags for households to replace the existing ones, which will be phased in later this year.
Collection crews are being instructed to return blue bags and leave them preferably under the empty blue box or attached to the empty green bin, a Rotherham Council spokesman said.
