Residents of a South Yorkshire street were evacuated from their homes last night after a severe fire at a nearby property.
About a dozen residents on Windmill Avenue, Conisbrough, Doncaster, were asked to leave their homes temporarily while fire crews tackled the blaze at a detached garage.
Crews from Edlington and Rotherham were called at about 9pm.
Watch manager Nicholls, from the Edlington crew, said: “There was a severe fire which resulted in two people being hospitalised.
“The fire had heated some gas cylinders, which caused local residents to be evacuated for approximately two hours.
“There is severe damage to the garage and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.”
Firefighters remained on the scene until about 11.30pm.
