Youngsters at a South Yorkshire primary school were given time off from numeracy and literacy to help run a coffee and cake afternoon in aid of charity.

The pupils at Treeton CofE Primary School ran the event for children, parents and staff to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Chief organiser Annie, a year 4 pupil, enlisted the help of her friends and neighbours to run the event and fundraising stalls.

Local businesses including Treeton Autos, Treeton News and Xzibit Hair and Beauty donated prizes for a raffle.

Sports teams including the Sheffield Steelers also donated prizes for the event on Wednesday afternoon.
