Nature trust chiefs are appealing for people to make sure hedgehogs haven’t taken up residence in bonfires before they are lit.

Experts at the Barnsley Biodiversity Trust and Penistone Friends of the Earth say the piles of leaves and dead branches attract hedgehogs that are starting to go into hibernation at this time of year.
