A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Many of us will have started our Christmas shopping, and as the shops get busier people are asked to be vigilant when heading out. Avoid counting it openly in the street or in the bank foyer."Be aware of your belongings, particularly in busy areas Keep your phone out of view when you’re out and be aware of your surroundings."Property mark your phone so it can be returned if found and download a phone finder app and use a PIN code."If you think something is suspicious in a bank or shop, alert staff members."
