Witnesses appeal after thieves strike

TOOLS were stolen from vans parked on Ulverston Road, Woodseats, and Beverleys Road, Norton, overnight last Monday into Tuesday.

Meanwhile, sheds on allotments in Meersbrook were broken into overnight last Tuesday into Wednesday.

An outbuilding on Middle Hay Place, Gleadless Valley, was raided the same night, and a car was stolen from Strelley Road, Meadowhead, last Monday.

â–  Anyone with information should call police on 101.

Homes evacuated

HOMES were evacuated in Darton, Barnsley, for three hours after an outbuilding containing gas cylinders was set alight. The blaze on Darton Lane was discovered at 2.40pm on Saturday.

Blazing down M1

A car travelled 20 miles down the M1 while on fire. The BMW was reported on fire just after 8.45pm on Friday night at junction 31, near Aston, but it continued south for almost 20 miles to junction 28 before the driver stopped.
