South Yorkshire games begin with a bounce

MORE than 160 pupils will spring into action tomorrow to launch the South Yorkshire School Games 2013.

Some 40 teams from secondary schools across Doncaster, Barnsley, Rotherham and Sheffield have qualified for a trampoline event at Saint Pius X Catholic School, Wath Upon Dearne.

It is one of two standalone events organised for the games, in addition to the multi-
sport winter and summer finals.

The second separate event will be an orienteering competition.

The games will see thousands of primary and secondary school children from across the region compete in 15 sports, including seven disability events.

It will be supported by more than 100 volunteers from Sheffield Hallam University.
