THE boss of a Sheffield business was among a team from Yorkshire which visited the Olympic Park – a year before the torch will leave Sheffield on its journey around the county.
Mark Blackburn, special projects director at Pitchmastic in Sheffield, was part of a group visiting the Olympic Park in London to see the contribution firms from Team Yorkshire have made to the Olympic venues.
Sheffield firm Arnold Laver supplied 56km of sustainable Siberian pine for the velodrome.
And Barnsley company Bespoke Precast produced the terraces which will seat 6,000 spectators.
Mark said the visit had been enjoyable and interesting.
He said: “We’ve been involved with around 30 structures around the Olympic Park, including bridges, steps and the aquatics centre.
“It’s a great thing for us and for Yorkshire to be a part of and I’d encourage other firms to get involved.”
