Charities and community groups across South Yorkshire are being offered a helping hand with the launch of a new £5,000 fund.
The Sheffield Mutual Friendly Society’s initiative is specifically targeted at helping communities in and around Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster.
Grants are for up to £1,000, provided the initiative is based in South Yorkshire and will help relieve hardship, poverty or suffering.
Society Chief Executive Tony Burdin said: “The Community Fund should provide a much-needed boost for smaller charities and community groups.
“We hope that it will give communities access to the money they need to make a difference for people in need of help and assistance.”
