ST LUKE’S Hospice is looking forward to a 40th anniversary boost thanks to the Football League’s official charity partnership with the national Help the Hospices movement.

As part of the partnership, Wednesday and United, will be supporting St Luke’s throughout the coming season.

And to kick off the campaign, St Luke’s director of fundraising and communications Una Moran joined Sheffield United manager Danny Wilson and players Johnny Ertl and Andy Taylor on the touchline.

“This is going to be a great partnership for us, linking three of the city’s best known and loved institutions,” Una said.

“With the support of both Sheffield’s top football clubs and their fans, we will be able to go on helping all the people of Sheffield when they need help the most.”

David Praill, chief executive of Help the Hospices, said: “We are delighted to have the chance to work alongside The Football League this season, so hospices across the UK can continue to care for 360,000 people every year.

Both Sheffield clubs are also supporting Bluebell Wood Hospice.
