I’ve been sorry to read so many negative letters recently. In particular I would like to respond to WS’s email published on Wednesday.
Regarding the phrase “our families fought and died for this country and for what?”
My understanding is that “our families” fought and died precisely so Britain could be a tolerant, inclusive country, unlike the bigoted, xenophobic Third Reich.
Wouldn’t it be sad if “our families” had indeed died in vain?
