AN AUCTION of a snowman as seen on TV has raised more than £300 for a Sheffield charity.

The frosty fella was donated by the city’s John Lewis store to SAFE@LAST, which supports vulnerable young people who are at risk of running away in South Yorkshire.

An online auction then sold the snowman - a replica of the one which appears in John Lewis’ latest Christmas advertisement - to the highest bidder.

They paid £319 to take him home for Christmas.

Clare Sherratt, SAFE@LAST head of communications and funding, said: “We’re delighted the auction raised such a fantastic amount which will benefit young people across South Yorkshire and we’re sure the snowman will be very happy in his new home.”
