Snow chaos on countryside road
News: The Star - bringing you news on-line 24-hours a day.
SNOW caused about 100 motorists’ cars to become stuck on a winding road over the Peak District hills tonight.
Vehicles became trapped tail-to-tail because of ice and snow flurries on the Winnats Pass, near Castleton, from about 5.15pm.
Derbyshire Police said there were no injuries reported and gritters had been called to the scene.
Motorists reported worried drivers wandering around in the snowy sleet unable to move their cars.

Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 09:57 AM@4 while I agree the driving style needs to change and people need to learn how to drive in the snow. I live in Germany where winter tyres are law, I got some last year and they make the world of difference. I will be on my way to work in -15 covered in snow and ice with little fiats driving around no probs, while on uk new reports is 2" snow , country comes to a stand still. 90% of this is due to the fact that Germans have snow tires.

Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 08:12 AMDiesel. It isn't the cars that need changing, it is time people learnt how to drive them in snow. I first learnt to drive in the early 1980's and had no problem with snow. Rear wheel drive cars are the last cars you should buy, they don't work in the snow.

Friday, January 27, 2012 at 10:07 PMTime for winterisation of cars to be a legal matter I think. Would solve alot of the rediculous problems you get in a 1\4 inch of sleet.
