A severe weather warning remains in place for Sheffield, with snow expected to fall overnight into tomorrow.

The Met Office is predicting accumulations of between four and eight centimetres on higher ground.

Forecasters are also warning of the potential for snow to settle over low levels of Yorkshire and down into the northeast Midlands.

A Met Office spokesman said: "Please be aware of the risk of difficult driving conditions in some areas."

Today, after a cold and frosty start, Sheffield is expected to remain dry with sunny periods.

Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 5C.
