A SUPER-SLIMMER grandad who lost more than seven stones in just months says it has cured his sleep apnoea – where people stop breathing while they sleeping.

John Hamilton, of Millhouses, also says he longer has to take tablets for diabetes after he shrank from 20st to 13st 7lb.

The 54-year-old said: “The doctors say the weightloss has put 20 years on my life. I feel that much better in myself and losing weight has cured my sleep apnoea.”

John was a national finalist in Slimming World’s man of the year competition after his success – shedding the pounds in 13 months – with the Cross Scythes group.

He said: “It was a big achievement to lose the weight in the first place, but to get that far in the contest was a fantastic feeling.”

Slimming World consultant Jayne Taylor, who runs seven groups in Sheffield and Dronfield, hailed John as an inspiration to those who want to lose weight.
