Even the weather was on side for a change and Jason Lloyd asked Lisa Lee to marry him during the set of band Marquis Drive.

The couple had come up from Birmingham for the day.

“For once we didn’t get wet through -it’s the first time we’ve not had any rain”, said organiser Steven Cowens.

“Normally people don’t have to water their gardens when I organise a festival!

“Jason asked me if he could propose on stage and band Marquis Drive said he could do it during their set.

“All the crowd cheered, they were made up.”

The festival began five years ago following the death of Steve’s friend and musician Mark Thorley, and has raised thousands of pounds for charity.

Revellers at the former Westfield School site in Mosborough enjoyed a wide range of music on Saturday.

Ska favourites The Selecter were one highlight - and Beighton teenagers The Carousel opened the day’s celebrations.

Former The Seahorses frontman Chris Helme, local bands The Sherlocks and The Monday Club also entertained.

Steve added: “We’ve been deluged with messages from people saying how brilliant it was. When you’ve Doctor and the Medics praising the festival you know you are on the right lines.”

The festival raised cash for Thornberry Animal Sanctuary and Mosborough Community Sports Group.
