PLANS by Sky to create 500 new jobs with a new customer service centre in Sheffield have been welcomed by MP David Blunkett.
The Labour politician, who represents Brightside and Hillsborough, said: “It represents an investment by a major national and international broadcaster in our city.
“I hope this represents just the beginning of private-sector investment in the people of Sheffield.
“If we are to recover from the downturn and reverse the rising tide of unemployment, other companies must follow Sky’s lead and provide jobs and opportunities for what is a skilled and willing workforce.”
The broadcaster plans a new city centre customer service centre from July.
