COUNCILLORS are to debate how to ensure people have more skills to reduce unemployment.

Barnsley Council’s Economy and Skills Scrutiny Commission is meeting to discuss the issue of lack of skills and qualifications, which causes difficulties for people looking for work.

A council spokesman said: “The focus is what needs to be done to make up the skills shortfall.”

The meeting is being held at Barnsley Library, from 2pm next Monday.
