Skate park set to be reviewed

OPERATION of a Sheffield skate park is to be reviewed after 18 months after concerns from nearby residents.

Funding for the park, at Occupation Lane, Hackenthorpe, was approved by Sheffield Council’s south east community assembly last year.

The decision was made after councillors heard pleas from supporters, who had a 279-signature petition backing the scheme, and opponents, who had two petitions against the skate park signed by a total of 106 people.

Opponents feared the park could ‘exacerbate problems’ with anti-social behaviour and noise, but supporters said it would ‘engage young people in positive activities’.

The assembly said a review would assess if the park has been trouble-free.
