PLANS to transfer Sheffield Council-run sports centres and swimming pools to Sheffield International Venues have been approved.
The authority’s cabinet backed the plan to hand over Graves Tennis and Leisure Centre, Heeley pool, Stocksbridge and Springs leisure centres.
Sheffield International Venues already runs Ponds Forge, Don Valley Stadium, Hillsborough Leisure Centre and Concord Sports Centre.
The move will save Sheffield Council £150,000. Councillors believe it will improve the chance of funding being secured for upgrades to pools and leisure centres. SIV can access more commercial cash than the council is allowed.
