AN ARMY of silver surfers from Sheffield got to grips with the world wide web as part of a national festival of learning.

Sheffield Homes held digital taster sessions for older tenants from the south east area as part of Adult Learners’ Week.

The Spring Online event, at Crystal Peaks Library, taught tenants over 55 to find their way around the internet - trying their hand at everything from bagging a bargain holiday to shopping for appliances and filling out a benefit form online.

Everything was done with the help of IT experts from Sheffield Homes.

Paul Voyse, south east area manager for Sheffield Homes said, “As more and more Government services will be provided online, including accessing benefits, it’s essential for us to help our tenants to access these services.”
