Sheffield householders have until tomorrow to sign up to the full garden waste collection service.
The fortnightly service is available all over the city and is an easy way to recycle such garden waste as grass cuttings, hedge and plant clippings, leaves and prunings.
The service costs £55.80. Once signed up, residents will receive 15 fortnightly green bin collections from April to November.
Coun Jack Scott, cabinet member for environment, recycling and streetscene, said: “We realise that the disposal of garden waste is important to many residents in the city, so we have worked with Veolia Environmental Services to offer a recycling service at a modest cost that equates to just over a pound a week.
“This years’ service is cheaper than last year and I believe this provides good value for money at a time when we have to consider the services available very carefully against many difficult budgetary decisions.”
Householders are able to sign up after tomorrow but they will not receive all the collections. If they subscribe part way through the collection season, the cost is reduced according to the number of collections remaining.
