RUNNERS from around South Yorkshire can enter a new 10k race timed to coincide with the last day of the Olympics.
The Cannon Hall Run takes place on August 12, and participants will take a picturesque route from Barnsley town centre to Cannon Hall.
MP Dan Jarvis will launch the race alongside representatives from Barnsley Hospice, the official charity for the run.
The event has been developed by the Newham Barnsley Partnership, a project set up to create a legacy from the 2012 Games outside London.
Oliver Coppard, partnership manager, said: “The course has been designed to incorporate challenges, as well as being a distance that can be achieved by most levels, from beginner to more experienced runners.”
