STANNINGTON is preparing to showcase the best of its homegrown creativity on Sunday with a summer art celebration.
The Sheffield suburb will celebrate Art in the Park’s year-long Villages of Poetry project with free entertainment, art activities, refreshments and a poetry walk around the area.
The Stannington Summer Celebration will take place from 1pm until 4pm at Stannington Pavilion.
As well as tucking into a free hog roast, visitors can try out their creative skills with poetry, painting and drawing on offer from professional poet Charlotte Ansell and artists Tom Richards and Michelle Roper.
They can also explore the new Stannington Poetry Trail, a gentle round walk featuring poems on 10 specially commissioned signs.
The signs have been written by local schoolchildren and participants from Charlotte’s adult poetry class.
