BUSINESSES in the Peak District have been praised for their ongoing commitment to the environment and boosting the local economy.
VisitEngland, the country’s national tourist board, has voiced its support for hotels, restaurants and shops displaying the Peak District Environmental Quality Mark.
The organisation paid homage to the high standards of the 65 businesses in the area which bear the logo following its annual audit.
Businesses are only entitled to display the logo if they meet set criteria, including putting pride in the Peak District at the heart of all their operations, actively caring and helping the local environment and safeguarding natural resources.
Jason Freezer, sustainability lead for VisitEngland, said: “The Peak District Environmental Quality Mark promotes sustainability practices with innovative criteria that promote the sense of place and follow the customer journey.
“The scheme and the team involved are to be commended for their approaches that help ensure businesses in the Peak District are working to keep the area a beautiful and special place to visit and enjoy.”
