AN Action Desk reader has reported a scam that could happen in any shop offering cashback.
The 75-year-old woman used her cash card to pay for paint in a well known store.
But because she was in a rush she failed to check the amount on the handset.
And the receipt went into her bag.
When she got her statement, instead of £6, it showed £56, she says.
She claims the shop worker must have taken an extra £50 cashback and pocketed the money.
The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “The store said their till was straight and I had put my PIN in fair and square.
“But I definitely did not ask for cashback.
“The police said there was no evidence and they could not record it as a crime.
“They said to ring Action Desk to warn people.
“I’m 75 but I’m not suffering from dementia. I was just in a rush. This could happen to anyone.”
