Shoebox ladies’ cheer for children
Rotarians Jill Bethell, Anne Ledbetter, Patricia Quinn and Lynne Freeman take a well earned break in front of the cartons of shoeboxes ready for despatch.
SOME ladies can never own too many shoes.
But for this particular bunch forget the shoes – they’re more interested in shoeboxes.
Dronfield’s Drone Valley Rotary Club members were busy again last Saturday packing shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child.
Around 700 boxes were packed during the day using gifts that have been donated by schools, churches and families.
The boxes made up for boys and girls of different ages will be sent out to some of the most deprived countries in the world.
The packing operation in Dronfield Parish Church Hall is part of a nationwide operation that will send a million shoeboxes packed with gifts.
The Rotary Club of Drone Valley has a busy programme of talks, socials and meetings to discuss its projects. To join, log onto www.dronevalleyrotary.org.uk for more details.
