Shoe shop manager Dennis Farrell has laced up his trainers with two colleagues to raise almost £2,000 for the Macmillan cancer charity.

Dennis, who manages four stores for the Wynsors World of Shoes chain – including the Infirmary Road branch at Shalesmoor, Sheffield – took part in the BUPA Greater Manchester 10k fun run.

He is now in training to take part in the Great North Run to raise even more money for the organisation.

Dennis said: “I wanted to do more and I am now in serious training at the moment with support from friends and family for the Great North Run.

“Since I’m doubling the distance it would be great to double the amount of money raised for such a great charity.

“Macmillan aim to help everyone affected by cancer both locally and nationally and any support we can give them as a business or I can give myself personally is well worth all the effort.”
