Sheffield Fright Night latest

FRIGHT Night returns to Sheffield on Sunday for the eighth year, turning the city centre into a venue for spooky activities and entertainment.

The event is Britain's biggest Halloween party, with 38,000 people visiting Sheffield every year to enjoy the scary spectacle.

Attractions include street theatre and ghost tours as well as a visit from Doctor Who's arch-enemies, the Daleks.

Other guests will include fire walkers, vampires, zombies, monstrous insects and a stilt-walking Grim Reaper.

Roads around the Peace Gardens, the Winter Garden and Fargate will be closed off for the "mass promenade" event, which is always held on the Sunday before Halloween.

Plenty of music and entertainment is also on offer, including a Real Radio stage, spooky fairground rides, a fancy dress catwalk and a performance from the Sheffield Samba Band.

Kids can enjoy a host of craft activities, while Sheffield City Hall is staging a one-off, adults-only performance of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

High street store Marks and Spencer is even getting in on the act – its front window will be taken over by zombies, curated by Sheffield University professor Vanessa Toulmin.

In addition to the main event, which runs from 3.30pm to 8.30pm, organisers are staging Fright Night's Little Brother on The Moor from 12pm to 3pm.

It will feature a host of Halloween fun for younger children, including a Harry Potter lookalike, giveaways and street entertainers.
