The fourth annual Sheffield Adventure Film Festival will be at The Showroom cinema from Friday until Sunday, when a host of award-winning films will be showcased alongside several exclusive premieres.
More than 40 movies will compete for prizes at the adventure-themed event, with subjects including everything from rock climbing to orienteering and paragliding.
Organiser Matt Heason said this year's event was set to be bigger and better than ever - and featured much more than just films.
A temporary climbing wall is to be installed outside the cinema, and visitors can also take part in an orienteering challenge around the city.
The Saturday night will include a special party, with live music from Sheffield band The Felt Tips. A big part of this year's event will be the guest speakers, who will share their adrenaline-fuelled experiences with audiences at various talks over the weekend.
Among them will be Chris Sharma, the man regarded as the world's best climber, who will be making the journey to Sheffield from the USA, and Ron Fawcett, from Hathersage, who was a top name in the sport in the 1980s and is regarded as a "living legend" in climbing circles.
Matt, who founded the festival three years ago, said he was looking forward to this year's event more than ever.
