Members of a Sheffield youth group have been spreading some festive cheer across South Yorkshire.

Youngsters from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association travelled to Doncaster to donate items to a food bank.

The Doncaster Food Bank, Thorne Road, was contacted by the association after a TV appeal for donations.

The team purchased various items from a list, which were then handed to the food bank, as part of its practice of helping less fortunate members of society.

Shahzad Athar, youth leader, said: “We are fortunate to have been able to donate for less fortunate members of society and will continue our endeavours to contribute positively to the society we live in.”

The donation came after members of the branch, which meets on Sussex Street, Sheffield, donated food to the St Wilfrid’s Centre for helping the homeless, based on Queens Road, Sheffield.
