Nearly 700 children turned out for a two-day ‘Winter Wonderland’ event at Hesley Wood Activity Centre in Sheffield.
Brownies, Rainbows, Beavers and Cubs were all invited to the annual festive celebration, which has been held every year in the city since 1998.
Organiser, and retired Beaver leader, Elaine Lewis said: “It was a fantastic weekend, but then it always is.
“It takes an awful lot of planning and pulling together, by myself and the committee, but the pleasure we get from seeing how much the children enjoy it makes it so worthwhile.”
The event – which is always held on the first weekend of December – featured a variety of craft tables, fairground rides, a candlelit quiz trail, a nativity, a host of Christmas music and a campfire.
More than 400 children sat and wrote a letter to Santa at the event and, according to Elaine, each of them will receive a reply.
She said: “This is something we’ve done for a long time and the children just love it. As well as seeing Santa on the day, they all write him a letter which he always replies to. Of course some of the handwriting isn’t always easy to read, so Santa usually has his work cut out for him.”
