A Sheffield woman has received a national award for helping to get people out of fuel poverty.
Shelly Davis won the Heat Hero Award in recognition of her work leading the Warm and Well project team at the South Yorkshire Energy Centre. The awards, run by National Energy Action in partnership with ScottishPower, aims to recognise individuals who have gone ‘above and beyond’ to help people living in fuel poverty in their community.
Shelly was nominated for her ability to find those most in need and to give them hands on help.
She said: “I am so pleased to receive the Heat Hero Award. I have been delivering fuel poverty projects for the last five years with my small team at SYEC. We have previously won an award for our projects that we are very proud of. It’s really special to receive this award personally for my contribution and nice to know that other people appreciate my work at SYEC.”
MP Louise Haigh said: “Shelly is an outstanding individual.”
