Football fans were out in force for a chance to see their heroes at Sheffield Wednesday’s community fun day.
Up to 15,000 fans flocked to Owls in the Park, held at Hillsborough Park, next to the club’s Hillsborough Stadium, yesterday, all keen to meet their footballing heroes while enjoying a host of attractions and entertainment.
The park was awash with the blue and white stripes of Wednesday as youngsters and adults alike enjoyed fairground rides, sporting events, stalls, shows and live music.
John Rutherford, safety officer and event manager for Owls in the Park, said the event just keeps getting bigger.
He said: “This is an opportunity to bring the whole Wednesday family together and thank our fantastic supporters.
“The turnout was fantastic and shows the fun day is a real success story.”
Fans formed a long queue to meet the Wednesday squad who signed autographs and posed for pictures.
Eight-year-old Jake Hutson-Williams, from Parson Cross, said: “I can’t wait to meet the players, I’ve been queueing a while, but it will be worth it.”
