Sheffield Wednesday’s ‘blinding performance’ was praised almost universally by football fans around the world tonight as the Owls dumped Premier League Arsenal out of the League Cup.

Hillsborough was rocking as goals from Wallace, Joao and Hutchinson stunned the Gunners in front of 35,000 fans.

Twitter exploded, and even some Sheffield United fans gave the Owls some kind words.

Match of The Day presenter Gary Lineker tweeted: “Well played Sheffield Wednesday. That was a blinding performance.”

David L. Fairey said: “If you’re going to do giant killing I guess this is how you do it! Congrats - from a Blade!”

@Grundymatt1 tweeted: “Crikey Bayen would lose 5-0 to this Sheffield Wednesday team?”
