Baking volunteers are on the rise in Sheffield after a special event urging people to don their aprons and get baking for needy children.
Free Cakes for Kids Sheffield held a cake and cookbook sale last weekend to raise funds and awareness of the cause, which makes sure deprived children can still blow out candles on their birthday.
The event raised £754, which can pay for more than 150 birthday cakes, and prompted 20 people to sign up as volunteers.
Charity founder Kate Thorpe said: “It was fantastic and I can’t believe how much money we raised.”
