Sheffield residents are being urged to attend a memorial service for the 70th anniversary of VJ Day.
The service takes place at the war memorial in Baker’s Pool at 11am on Saturday, August 15. A wreath will be laid, banners raised and the Last Post sounded.
VJ day marks the day Japan surrendered to the Allies after atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Christine Spencer, who is coordinating the service, said: “It is a most poignant day.”
