A vets is appealing for canine life-savers to donate blood to help poorly pooches in need.

Concerned staff at Sheffield’s Peak Vets say its blood levels are running low and they urgently need owners to bring large, fit and healthy dogs to its donation session on Saturday.

Dogs that attend will receive a full health check and a goody bag containing a ‘I’m a lifesaver’ bandana and toy of their choice.

The donation takes around 40 minutes and owners can stay by their dog’s side.

Participating pooches must be between one and eight-years-old, weigh more than 25kg, have a good temperament, have never travelled abroad, be vaccinated and not be on any medication.
