The University of Sheffield's Students' Union has again been rated as number one in the UK, for the ninth year running.

The Students’ Union has topped the Good Students’ Union category once again in the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey, which gathers feedback from students at universities across the UK.

Sheffield returned a 98 per cent overall student satisfaction rating - the highest among all the institutions surveyed - in the 'student barometer' and 'international student barometer'.

Students’ Union president Dom Trendall said: “This is a testament to the brilliant services and facilities available to students and all the dedicated staff, students and volunteers who work incredibly hard to create a truly inclusive community that Sheffield students love to be a part of.

“I’m proud to think that we offer one of the best university experiences that students will cherish for the rest of their lives.

“This again shows that Sheffield Students’ Union is doing a good job in providing services to our members, and representing their interests.

“In the context of the government's assault on higher education and a cost of living crisis, having a strong Students’ Union to defend our members is more important than ever. “

The ‘student barometer’ surveys compare the decision-making, expectations, perceptions and intentions of students from application to graduation. This year, 188,031 students took part from across 17 countries.

It asked home (domestic) students from 44 institutions around the world to score their satisfaction with their students' union.

Sheffield scored 98.4 per cent, 8.6 per cent higher than the average, and 4.7 per cent higher than the participating Russell Group Universities average.

The international student barometer asked international students from 166 institutions around the world, to score their satisfaction with their students' union.

The University of Sheffield Students’ Union scored 98.3 per cent, 5.2 per cent higher than the average and 3.6 per cent higher than the participating Russell Group Universities average.

The University of Sheffield has also been ranked number one in the Russell Group and third best nationally for offering the best student experience.
